Beach Find

Took the dogs for a walk yesterday, it was brisk and fresh and ended up on the beach.  The water was really rough and I just wish I had my camera with me as it was overcast and the waves were just sensational, perfect formation and the white foam was magnificant.

I had to console myself with a mini beach comb to see what the rough weather had washed up.  I just love fossiking on the beach, I can spend hours searching through the sands looking for the perfect shell.  The dogs were happily snorting beside me.

Winter Mornings

Well winter has arrived!  Finally it is very cold in the mornings, I forgot how much I hate the cold, I wake up and put my reverse cycle heating on in our bedroom, put the heater lamp blasting when I get out of the shower and have the heater dusted off and on full blast.  That is after I shut all the doors once I get home, my eskimo husband (he's not really an eskimo) does not feel the cold at all and always insists on having the wind howl through the doors.  Mind you having said that he also has the heater on and all the doors open at the same time!!  That's if you are lucky to get anywhere near the heater as our two staffi heat worshippers actually bark for the heater to be on and nudge you out of the way.  This is how they appeared this morning before I had to cruely turf them outside into the garage before I went to work.

It's a dogs life!

Ageing Gracefully

We were out to lunch today and saw a very plastic over stretched, over botoxed woman.  It was such a shame as she was a naturally beautiful woman, but needed to have aged gracefully.  She must have been around 55-60, that's what her hands and neck told us, no matter how much plastic surgery you have, your hands and neck will always give you away. I so do understand that as you age, you always want to look younger and I do think in a few years I may myself give in to plastic surgery, there is nothing wrong with making yourself feel better by looking better.  BUT!! I say BUT as there is a fine line, do not overdo it, women just look at you with contempt and pity when you overdo it.  Not so much mutton dressed as lamb but so botoxed that you no longer look like your natural self.  This woman was beautiful just being herself with a slight tweaking that wouldn't have even been picked up, currently she just looked like a tri hard plastic barbie.

Which got me to thinking about the fashion at the moment, has anyone gone into Sportsgirl lately whose aged around 40ish and thought what the hell has happened to the fashion, it seems to have tracked back 20 years to the 80's.  Now Sportsgirl was my favourite shopping haunt, so has Sportsgirl changed drastically aiming at the 20 year olds or have I just outgrown Sportsgirl?  Am I too old for Sportsgirl?  Am I one of those women who is hanging on to her youth and afraid to notice the signs?  AAAAAHHHHH Say it's not true!

I certainly know I am now picking clothes differently, I am happy to spend over $200 plus on an item and am no longer swayed by the "must have fashion item of the moment" so I have matured and being mature, confident, sexy, sassy, secure is a wonderful thing.  I no longer want to be 20, although 30 would be nice when you had no lines around your eyes and your boobs were perky, but you can't have everything.  Your 40's are a time to be strong, confident, stylish, knowledgeable, sexy, and powerful so embrace your age, whatever you are and be YOU!

Supportive Friends!

I attended the City of Joondalup Community Art Awards last night and dragged along two friends for moral support.  After the winners were announced, we spotted the people's choice where you nominate your favourite painting.  My gorgeous friend nominated my painting as her favourite.  There was a question on the form asking "the reason you are here tonight" and she meant to write "to support my artistic friend" but after a few free glasses of red wine she managed to write "to support my autistic friend"  We had a good laugh over that one, I may now be in with a chance to win!!

The piece below is what I entered, there is some great artwork so go and support your local talented community.  It's being held at the Joondalup Shopping Centre and all artwork is for sale.

Little Red Fishing Boat

I started this little boat painting before I went on holidays and had to leave it waiting patiently for my return.  I have only just been able to complete it.  I have been playing with light and reflections in water and this is the second painting in my boat series.

Above is the first painting in the series
