Wednesday Art Mornings

More interesting work from my Wednesday morning art ladies, very varied work, all are working on different types of compositions and its great having such diverse work.

Above is Jeanne's view of the Perth Skyline, a very messy piece using all that black pastel.  The sky was purple then grey, lots of rubbing out, adjusting and hand washing, but that is the beauty of pastels you can brush it off and change your mind.  In the end it turned out fabulous!!

Carmen above working on a smaller detailed piece, cant wait for the finished product!

Above is Linda's white tiger, Linda has tried different compositions but has a great fondness for painting animals of all shapes and sizes and has gone back to her comfort zone.  Having said that, this is her first animal in pastel and what a great job she has done.

Leanne's Greek door way above is just gorgous, she too wanted to try a different composition and even though she said parts of this drove her crazy the results are amazing!

So just about everyone is ready to start afresh next week, I wonder what they will choose.  Will keep you posted.

If you want any information on next term's art lessons please contact me annsteerart@hotmail.com as bookings are essential and it is always kept as a small group.

The Pole House, Lorne Melbourne

These are some of my favourite photos that we have taken over the years.  They are of Lorne in Melbourne on the Great Ocean Road.  We stayed in the legendary Pole House, it is a wee bit run down but the views are to die for.  The house is basically set on one very high pole and it actually sways in the wind which took a bit of getting used to.  We had a slight storm that came in whilst we were staying here but it made for the best sunset, and as you all know I am a sucker for a good sunset.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Doggie Portrait - Benji Boo Boo

My gorgeous girlfriend showed me this photograph of her beloved golden retriever Benji (better known as Boo Boo) and I knew I just had to paint him, those eyes are totally adorable.  I have given it to my girlfriend as a gift and she loves it, his soppy nature has been been captured forever.

Painting - Crashing Wave Wedge Point

I completed this painting titled Crashing Wave at Wedge Point.  We were staying in the shacks close by when our husbands came rushing back from the beach telling us to come and see the magnificant sunset.  We arrived just in the nick of time to see the most amazing hues of orange and red that faded off to pink.  The ocean was a deep green and the light reflecting of the sand at the shore was just incredible.  I know my painting isn't quite as good as "gods creation" but hopefully it can show you just how wonderful this sunset was.  We only got to see it for about 10 minutes and it was all over and was dark very quickly, I am so glad I managed to get a few snap shots of this.

Art Workshop

My Wednesday ladies have been painting up a storm in my classes.  Claudine has finished this beautiful sunset below.  Carmen in working on an ocean theme, Linda is underway with her lighthouse, it is coming along beautifully.  Leanne is still studiously working on her beach landscapes and Jeanne is on to an abstract version of the Perth skyline.  So some very varied and interesting choices, can't wait to share the finished pieces with you.

Agave Shadows

I was sitting in the sun by my front door on Sunday eating my lunch when I spotted this gorgeous huge rain drop in our Agave plant.  I grabbed my camera and snapped away and may have gotten a bit carried away but the light and shadows caused by the plant really looked so beautiful.  I can see me incorporating this into a painting some how.  Just thought I would share.....
