My husband has always been an early riser, I myself prefer to stretch out in bed after he has jumped out and take the warm spot that he has just left behind for me. I started this new exercise regime if you can call it that but I have to walk every day for at least 30 minutes so I drag myself out of bed every morning at 5.45 am which is not an easy feat when it is dark and cold. I basically layer up, I start with my tshirt (long sleeve of course) then my jumper with a hoodie, my scarf, my beenie and then my coat followed by gloves. I spend the first 2 minutes of walking buttoning up every conceived button on my coat until basically only my face is facing the cold air. About half way round my gloves are off, about 3/4 of the way round I need to open my coat to get some air into my neck as I am internally combusting. I just hate to be cold so this leads me to my next part of the story......
We walk with my two staffi's who have short coats and one is old around 13 and the other is young only 4 so I felt that the old one needed to have some warmth during these early mornings. I told my husband and he replied I am not walking the dogs with coats on. Hmmmmm, well just as it happens I received a text message that day saying 40% discount on dog coats ha ha the lord works in mysterious ways! So off I went to get two little doggie coats. They have velcro that goes under the belly and then another section that goes around their necks, easy to put on and off, perfect or so I thought.
That morning, our staffi's were parading down the street in their finery, Angus our male staffi had a red coat on (my husband kept calling him the gay red baron!!) and Abbey our female staffi strutting a navy blue classic number. Abbey's was a bit more difficult to get on as she is a little on the portly side but I stretched strap under her belly and managed to get it to stay on. About 5 minutes in to the walk Abbey kept stopping and stopping until finally she sat down. I removed her jacket and as soon as I did she did a kind of little dance and barked and off she continued went quite happily. It was so tight that she couldn't move, a bit like a girdle. So my fur covered friend needs an extension to her velcro! Bless, its all that stodgy winter comfort food, she will need to diet before summer to get back in to that two piece hot pink bikini!

Ladies Wednesday Morning Workshops
This painting below is Jeanne's little dog Bob, who she painted for her partner. Jeanne wasn't keen on working small and more technical but the results are great, Bob looks fantastic!
This is Carmen's latest facsination with birds, it is classically simple and fresh I love this piece.
And this is Carmen who every week manages to get pastel all over her face, neck, hands and even my lounge! We all have a good laugh at her by the end of the class!
Next week is our last Wednesday morning painting session and I will not return until last week in August. I am having a well deserved break and concentrating on my first solo exhibition to be held in August.
