Searing Pain in Big Toe

I have been struck down with a searing sharp pain in my big toe.  When I walk, I get the most excrutiating sharp pain in my big toe.  You know when something hurts so bad and so intense and sharp that you get goose bumps from it, that is what it is like.  Totally agony, I have had to take my heels off in the office and limp about barefoot!!!!

Someone suggested that it may be Gout, perhaps it is.  My only knowledge of Gout is from fellow suffers that inform me how painful it is and there should be no red wine drinking.  My immediate thoughts were how can I go a winter without red wine???  I had just posted on my facebook status that I was sick of this searing humid summer heat wave and that I was looking forward to swapping my champagne and airconditioning for snuggles by the fire, curries, and red wine!!  and now the thought of a winter without my dear old glass of red, unthinkable!!

What is a girl to do????  Stop wearing heels????  Stop drinking Red Wine???? Is a little big toe pain going to do me in????  As they say beauty is Pain... Am I going to Suffer in Silence....  Definately NOT you will all hear about it .....as they say friends "a pain shared is a pain lessoned".

  2. Hi Margaret, thanks for the advice, luckily the pain disappeared as quickly as it appeared so don't think it was gout thankfully!
